01Discipline Through Focus
Mr Barrie led a skills session where youngsters had the opportunity to practise their archery skills. Archery is a great activity for developing discipline, as it requires concentration, patience and careful control. The youngsters had to listen to instructions, follow safety rules and take their time before each shot.
By practising repeatedly and learning from their mistakes, they developed perseverance and self-discipline while building confidence in their abilities. It was an engaging session that showed how discipline can help young people improve both their skills and their personal development.

02Discipline Through Organisation
At CLIMB, we encourage all youngsters to arrive each day fully prepared with the correct stationery and equipment needed for their lessons. Having the appropriate resources readily available helps youngsters to begin their learning promptly, remain organised, and participate fully in classroom activities. Being prepared each day also promotes independence, responsibility and good learning habits, while minimising unnecessary disruption or loss of valuable learning time.
Are you ready to learn? Every youngster should bring:
- 2 pencils
- 2 black or blue pens
- 1 green pen
- Rubber and sharpener
- 30cm ruler
- Geometry set
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Scientific calculator (preferably Casio)
“Small tools, big goals.”
03Understanding Our RAG Criteria
We have started to implement our RAG (Red, Amber, Green) criteria to help monitor and support positive behaviour and learning during lessons. The system provides a clear and consistent approach, helping youngsters understand our expectations, take responsibility for their choices and develop positive habits throughout the day.
🔴 Red – Action required. A Red indicates that a youngster has demonstrated behaviour that falls significantly below our classroom expectations. A Red will be given for:
- Arriving at a lesson without the correct stationery
- Homework not being completed
- Chatting twice during a lesson
- Calling out twice during a lesson
- Throwing objects during a lesson
- Not handing in their phone when required
- Arriving more than 5 minutes late to a lesson
When a youngster receives a Red, they will be expected to use part of the afternoon session to reflect on and address the issue. This may include completing missed work, correcting the behaviour or taking appropriate action to ensure they are better prepared for future lessons. The purpose is not simply a consequence, but to encourage accountability, reflection and positive change.
🟠 Amber – Warning and opportunity to correct. An Amber indicates that a youngster has not fully met the expected standard and serves as an opportunity to recognise the issue and make an immediate positive change. An Amber will be given for:
- Chatting once during a lesson
- Calling out once during a lesson
- Arriving less than 5 minutes late to a lesson
Amber acts as a reminder, giving youngsters the opportunity to self-correct before the behaviour escalates to Red.
🟢 Green – Meeting expectations. A Green indicates that a youngster is meeting the expected standards for behaviour, preparation and learning. Our aim is for every youngster to remain on Green and develop the habits that allow both themselves and their classmates to learn successfully.
We appreciate parents reinforcing these expectations at home. By working together, we can help our youngsters understand the importance of punctuality, preparation, respectful behaviour and taking responsibility for their learning.
