CLIMB youngsters: Many Forms of Learning

01Learning Through Exploration

Snowdon and Fuji enjoyed an educational visit to Midlands Arts Centre for the Religion & Worldviews Home Educator Forum. CLIMB showcased last year's KS3 project on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, highlighting links to religious beliefs, worldviews and our visit to Handsworth Cemetery.

Youngsters also enjoyed exploring the park and playground while developing independence and time-management skills.

02Learning Through Skills

Education goes beyond GCSEs. Our afternoon sessions develop practical life skills, confidence and independence through hands-on learning.

This week focused on money skills, including budgeting, spending, financial choices and managing money responsibly — preparing youngsters not just for exams, but for life.

“Not just for exams, but for life.”

03Academic News

Academic meetings for both our KS3 and KS4 groups took place this week, with Miss Shamim and Miss Natalie sharing key information about each stage of the CLIMB journey, academic expectations and how parents can support their youngster's learning. Thank you to all the parents who attended and continue to work alongside us.

Youngsters also completed baseline assessments in English, Maths and Science, giving us a starting point from which to measure their progress throughout the year. Every parent will receive a unique candidate number for their child. At the end of each half term, assessment results will be shared using these candidate numbers, allowing you to identify your child's results while maintaining confidentiality.

04The CLIMB Journal

The Journal is a unique resource designed by our team to guide and structure each youngster's learning journey across the 33-week academic year. Through reflection, goal-setting and tracking academic progress, it helps youngsters remain purposeful, organised and accountable. In line with our holistic approach, the Journal encourages youngsters to take greater ownership of both their learning and personal growth.

Youngsters have also been documenting their home study in their Journals. We encourage parents to regularly check their child's work and add any feedback or questions in the Parent Comments section. Staff will review the Journals each week and respond to any comments where necessary, helping to strengthen the partnership between home and CLIMB.
